What is Iqama ID in Saudi Arabia?
Iqama is known as an official identification paper issued by the Saudi government. It is connected to a sponsor (employer) and serves as a residence card in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).
The Saudi government has rigorous standards for immigration and labor legislation. A local employer must serve as the worker's sponsor, applying for the iqama and work permit on their behalf. This strengthens the foreigner's role and provides him or her credibility because a local employer is vouching for the candidate.
An application for a work visa and iqama must be filed to the Ministry of Labor and Social Development within 90 days of the worker's arrival. Furthermore, if the employee has to leave the nation at any point during their iqama, they must get an exit and re-entry permission from the Ministry of Labour and Social Development.
